Gucci has hiked its prices in Korea significantly despite massive tariff benefits from the Korea-EU free trade agreement.
The Italian luxury brand hiked the prices of handbags by 4.8 percent and wallets by 3.7 percent on average. The new iconic "bamboo" bag now costs W3.2 million, up 6.3 percent (US$1=W1,114).
Around one-third of the entire product line has become more expensive only two months since Gucci hiked the prices of a handbag and two wallets by 4 to 11 percent.
Although foreign exchange rates are working in their favor, several foreign luxury brands are hiking their prices here.

Prada raised the prices of popular products by 6 to 8 percent in December last year. In January, Hermes hiked the prices of its handbags by an average of 0.3 percent, while Louis Vuitton increased the prices of some products by up to 6 percent early this month.
